Welcome to the website which has been sadly neglected by Yours Truly as I have been jaunting around the country in my other job, which is technically called Showing Off, otherwise known as Showbusiness. But we have a lot of news as of today (11th October) and so read on.
The major news is that our little team has been joined by Zara Hicks who will be managing the pub for us. Zara has serious experience under her belt having worked at the Muddy Duck for some years. John and I are thrilled to welcome her and know that her gimlet eye for detail will really improve standards at the pub.
Christine Martin continues to go from strength to strength in the kitchens at lunchtime and on Friday evenings. Whilst the menu is still very small, we are expanding the choices all the time. Look at the food page for our new menu.
Chris Torley, of course, does his very popular Sunday lunches, ably assisted by his partner Abbey Short who also runs our functions. Abbey is something very senior at Olympia and we are incredibly lucky to have her expertise at our disposal. So far we have hosted a christening party, a kid's birthday party and a private lunch in the Function Room and they all seemed to go incredibly well.
Sarah, Jacs and Izzy make up the rest of our little team (Girl Power!!!) and we thank heaven every day that we have enough people to run the place when I known that other establishments are struggling to find staff.
This of course means that our function room is up and running and Zara and I are going to work hard to make it look a little more hospitable. A new carpet to match the smart new carpet in the hallway is the aim!
Finally, we're going to start opening on Tuesdays in November. And there will be a number of events happening - including Frank Night, Rich Walsh's Quiz Night and a Wine Tasting evening. Go to the Events page to find out more.
The major news is

Yes, the dreaded virus is still around. We're not asking staff or customers to wear masks now that the Government have relaxed the rules - after all, the pub is somewhere we go to relax. But if you want to wear a mask, we absolutely respect your right to do so. And if you would like Table Service, you only have to ask. We also be sanitise, deep clean regularly and insist on frequent hand washing - we don't only want YOU to feel safe, we want to feel safe too.
