The Red Lion
Scroll down for updates!
Hi. This is the November update! Starting with a big welcome to Zara Hicks who is managing the pub for us, and doing a lovely job.
Events this month included a very successful wine-tasting evening in the Function Room. (I still call it the Red Room even though there's nothing red in it any more! Rich Walsh foxed everyone with his monthly quiz, and we are excited about our next breakfast event on 27th November. (See the Events Page!).
Christine Martin continues to go from strength to strength in the kitchens at lunchtime and on Friday evenings. Whilst the menu is still very small, we are expanding the choices all the time. Look at the food page for our new menu. And do check out our Christmas menu - we're ready to take bookings!
Chris Torley, of course, does his very popular Sunday lunches, ably assisted by his partner Abbey Short who also runs our functions. Abbey is something very senior at Olympia and we are incredibly lucky to have her expertise at our disposal. So far we have hosted a christening party, a kid's birthday party and a private lunch in the Function Room and they all seemed to go incredibly well.
Sapphy, Sarah and Izzy make up the rest of our little team and we thank heaven every day that we have enough people to run the place when I known that other establishments are struggling to find staff.
This of course means that our function room is up and running and I am working hard to make it look a little more hospitable. A new carpet to match the smart new carpet in the hallway is the aim!
Finally, we've started opening on Tuesdays - from 12 midday till 11pm.. And there will be a number of events happening - including Frank Night, Rich Walsh's Quiz Night and a Wine Tasting evening. Go to the Events page to find out more.

Yes, the dreaded virus is still around. We're not asking staff or customers to wear masks now that the Government have relaxed the rules - after all, the pub is somewhere we go to relax. But if you want to wear a mask, we absolutely respect your right to do so. And if you would like Table Service, you only have to ask. We also sanitise, deep clean regularly and insist on frequent hand washing - we don't only want YOU to feel safe, we want to feel safe too.
